This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

There’s so little data about her, so we over analyze every interaction to glean information. Do her lusty cries when she’s hungry mean she’ll take pleasure in meals as an adult? Does her calm reactions to our pup show she’ll be a dog lover? Her frog kicks she uses to snuggle up to our hearts indicate she’s strong willed.

We did the same when I was pregnant, cataloging movements and trying to extrapolate meaning. Now she’s more revealed to us, but still a mystery. I think the more we know her, the more we’ll have to revel in her unknowableness.
