This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

Last night, after we got home from our road trip, we moved our daughter to her crib. The bassinet at the foot of our bed is gone. Instead our little girl is in a big crib, sleeping now in her own room.

When I put her down to sleep I tell her that I’ll be there when she’s done sleeping. She might not understand, but it makes me feel better. I tell her that she’s a big girl now and she’s ready to sleep alone. She’s taking well to the adjustment. She doesn’t need to hear it. But I do.
