This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.
She’s crying and I can’t identify what’s wrong, so we go out back to her grandma’s garden. The flowers distract her with their riot of colors and shapes, but it’s the sky that fascinates her. We sit together on the grass and look around. Soon she’s lying on my stomach, staring up at the sky, watching the leaves of the trees move through the wind. She sees birds too. When I check her face she’s smiling at a goldfinch.
I sing to her What A Wonderful World every night. I like to think she agrees the world is indeed wonderful.
