My mom had surgery today, a surprisingly complex outpatient procedure.
Parental leave has supplied us with so many opportunities. One of them is to get to be here with my mom, fetching her water and cooking dinner and handing her my daughter for snuggles and bottles and other moral boosting activities that babies are so accomplished at.
The time that we have away from work never feels like enough. It does remind me of how easily I let myself get swallowed up by work. And it lets me think about what a life outside of that grind might look like.
