This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

The American Academy of Pediatrics just released their new guidelines for safe sleep. And it came at an inconvenient time for us.

Our daughter has been experimenting with not napping. We’ve been turning to the dramatic options to get her down. We’ve been swaddling her in the bouncer, rocking her in the car seat, and walking her to sleep in the stroller. All of those are now ill-advised. At least we haven’t been putting her to sleep with hats, which is also discouraged.

We’ll adjust our strategies. But I selfishly wish the new guidelines had waited a month or two.
