This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

My husband and I can officially say that we have left our daughter with a sitter (his parents) to go out on a date (tacos and cocktails at a trendy place in their city). Our daughter is ten weeks old.

I expected to miss her, and I did. I expected to talk about her, and we did, though not as much as I thought we might. I expected to pull out photos of her to stare at, and I didn’t.

The night was surreal, comforting, and lovely. I think it’s good for her to have parents who are in love.
