This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

When my life feels a bit too much or my brain is overwhelmed, I take a hot shower with a cold can of sparkling water, and detail all the sensory input I’m getting. When I skip showers, that’s when I know I’m in a bad state.

These past few days my daughter has had a hacking cough and stuffy nose. So I’ve put her bouncer in the bathroom and take a shower just shy of scalding. We both relax to music and she breathes easier after spending time in the steam. She perks up and I have my centering time.
