This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

Many of my favorite dresses were hand-me-downs from cousins. We once received a full plastic bag of socks in rainbow colors. I wore them for years.

My daughter does not have as many cousins as I do, but she has plenty of hand-me-downs. We’ve only bought her two pieces of clothing- the sleeper she came home from the hospital, and a milk and cookies onesie that’s still too big.

All those gifts are in our basement, laundered, folded, and sorted by age. It’s a treasure hunt to sort through the piles. Each piece has such potential, each piece is precious.
