This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

The Edinburgh Scale asks how often you have felt anxious or worried for no good reason. I’ve been given it three times and every time I circle “No, Never”. I’m anxious for good reasons.

Taking care of my daughter has allowed new fears to flourish. I wake and have to hear her breathing to go back to sleep. I have yet to learn not to consult Dr. Google.

I’m living with my heart outside my chest, now located in a fragile body that was made by mine but is not my own. How on earth could I not be worried?
