This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

My daughter does not enjoy naps.

She enjoys sleeping. When it’s in the right circumstances. When she’s wrapped in a blanket in her gently vibrating bouncing chair. When she is being held in arms after having a full belly. Usually between the hours of two to six am in her bassinet.

But naps are a challenge to overcome. Naps are a nuisance that stop her from interacting with the world. If she is napping, she cannot hear music, or look at people. So she fights her naps, which leaves us all tired and her resisting the next one even more.
