This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

At some point in the late morning one of us will sneak downstairs to make coffee.

The long necked kettle is set to boil. The grounds are tapped into the filter. The hot water is streamed through the filter slowly dripping into the Chemex.

If there’s some bread it gets toasted. The coffee is splashed with oat milk. The loaded tray is brought upstairs while our dog races and jumps into bed. It’s time for family cuddles. We drink coffee, talk about our dreams, and plan our day. Every moment with our daughter is precious. These might be my favorites.
