This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

Some days the chores pile up. Some days the housework is downright frightful, with all that’s not done. Some days I have to remind myself that what I must do is take care of my baby, and anything else is a bonus. Some days there are no bonuses.

But today I hand stitch shades for the nursery while listening to my daughter coo. I improvise an interesting, tasty dinner out of pantry staples and perishables close to their end. I remember to switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer. Some days the chores are my joyful, creative work.
