This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

Using three different diaper creams, plus an anti-fungal medication. Switching out between different varieties of water wipes to see if one is more irritating. Calling the baby care line to see if she needs a doctor’s appointment. Describing to the nurse no, the skin around her anus is not shiny like a blister, it’s shiny like leather.

Swapping in disposable diapers. Soaking her bottom in warm water with baking soda while she cries in protest and we sing made up songs about the bath. Allowing contact naps because she’s miserable.

I had no idea diaper rashes could be so serious.
