This is part of a creative project called 100 Word, 100 Days. In this project I’ll be writing a 100 word piece about my experience as a new mother every day for 100 days. Read more here.

Our bed is where we do much of our living right now. We have late night feedings, morning cuddles, 2 am chats, and coffee at noon.

We’ve earmarked one set of sheets for sacrifice. These sheets bear the mark of all that takes place in our bed. They’re filled with stains- human milk from leaks and spit up, spilled coffee, ink from a leaking pen. There’s always a burp cloth or pacifier or board book buried somewhere. No matter how often we brush them, there are clumps of dog hair and toast crumbs. One day we’ll have nice sheets again.
